102 Things to do in Pend Oreille Country (pronounced pawn dor ay)

A friend of mine went to a seminar on a secret shopper that came through her areas last September.

At that time the person doing the seminar held up the example of a book on how to draw tourists to your area.

She sat there thinking she already had many types of activities on her web sight for her business trying to encourage people to Stay and Play in Pend Oreille.

So she assigned her two home schooled children to come up with ideas to add to the book.

Her son who is no dummy at all but has a very hard time organizing his thoughts, reading and writing came up with 47 new activities.

She jotted them down for him and helped him to figure out businesses that might do well to be associated with the activities.

They called most of the businesses in the county that had anything at all to do with tourism.  Many of the businesses did not take them seriously and most of them NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL THEM BACK.
The rub here is that it was not going to cost them anything but the phone call to be in the book!

She keyed in all his ideas and started helping it make a coherent story on each.

Then she worked on it over the winter and sat down with her husband and daughter in the spring and started doing some more creative editing.

My friend is not one to hold peoples hands through a free deal so after calling everyone the first week of  November, December, January and February.  They decided to go with what they had because they needed the book out by March.  (needless to say it was late and they are now hoping for next week)

So then the family sat down for the final editing and then fought with the printing company to upload it all into a book.

Her daughter then designed the book cover and uploaded it.

They fought with the printers again because it wanted to make extra pages because of page formatting that had found its way into the book document.

Finally!  They were able to print a book and have it sent out to proof read.

They found a few more things to correct but have just ordered their first cases of books.

The book will cost $10.00 plus $.76 cents tax and $3.00 to mail in the USA and Canada.  Every where else $8.00 for mailing.

This book is full of some great adventures and if you are looking for an inexpensive vacation destination you should definitely order one of these from www.boundarytours.com

If the book is not yet on their web sight you can message them on Facebook at  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boundary-Tours/107216432315

I hope you enjoy your copy as much as we are already enjoying these adventures in Pend Oreille Country.
