Some fishing stories are a little hard to believe,

But this guy has pictures to prove his story... Tom Satre told the Sitka Gazette that he was out with a charter group on his 62-foot fishing vessel when four juvenile black-tailed deer swam directly toward his boat.

"Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking directly at us. 

We could tell right away that the young bucks were distressed. 
I opened up my back gate and we helped the typically skittish and absolutely wild animals onto the boat. 
In all my years fishing, I've never seen anything quite like it! 
“Once on-board, they collapsed with exhaustion, shivering. We headed for Taku Harbour. Once we reached the dock, the first buck that we had been pulled from the water hopped onto the dock, looked back as if to say 'thank you' and disappeared into the forest.” 
After a bit of prodding and assistance, two more followed, but the smallest deer needed a little more help (that’s him in the wheelbarrow). 
My daughter, Anna, and son, Tim, helped the last buck to its feet. We didn't know how long they had been in the icy waters or if there had been others who did not survive. 
My daughter later told me that the experience was something that she would never forget, and I suspect the deer felt the same way as well!" 

At the time of this post I could not prove this post to be true.

Trying to find Christ in CHRISTmas. My CHRISTmas VENT.

Life in my small county has been hard for most of the residents

The mine shut down.
Rumors are flying about it opening soon or closing this week for good depending on who you talk to.

The local chamber of commerce is trying harder then ever to make a go of things and work for the local business' that struggle to stay.  Many are being run as a hobby  right now because they are really not making enough to support the owners who want to live in the area.

People are so desperate for something new to talk about that they drag one good person after another through the frozen dirt after knocking them down with lies and rumors.

Case in point.

One of the local mayors who works tirelessly as a teacher, pastor, drama coach, theater director and as mayor was recently accused of actually coming to blows with a woman said to be running against her for mayor and the local chamber presidency.

That woman she was supposedly in a fight with was recently accused of egging the Mayor.
This same woman was told she was pregnant (this woman has no female parts left from her battle with cancer and anemia), her husband of 25 years is cheating on her (NOT TRUE), was in a fight at a Halloween party when a knife was pulled (NOT TRUE),  screwed up the local Halloween party so bad that the local Legion Auxiliary had to step in and save the night from total disaster and the rumormonger wanted to know why anyone would do the despicable things  she was doing.

That woman being accused was me.

While volunteering for the local chamber today I was answering calls made to the chamber.  Someone who  left no name or number called the chamber and left messages accusing me by name of screwing up the chamber so bad over the last two years and misappropriating funds .  They said they were going to make sure the sheriff knew about the situation and make sure I was not reelected.

I am not even an officer in the chamber and do not handle the funds.

The local American Legion Auxiliary has made life so miserable I asked the commander for my check back recently instead of joining.
They have complained about me as Santa for the local children's party so much that I no longer feel comfortable enough to do it.

I was so blessed to get to do it last year thanks to some friends who loaned me a beard, wig and costume
I always wanted to be Santa.

Today I made arrangements for a local man to do the job of Santa.

While out to lunch with friends they were all talking about buying this and that for different family members.

My family out of necessity do not spend any money on gifts.
When we found the Lord it just made more sense to not go into debt for Christmas.
I can not even afford to make things for family members and send it by mail to them.
So if the kids want to make gifts they are encouraged to do so starting in July and given time to complete them.
My kids choose not to make anything.
I myself do not enjoying making gifts but love spending time with my family.

We can not afford the big fancy dinners and I do not enjoy cooking all day for a meal that will be gone and done in 15 minutes.....so we just eat regular meals and if we have time spend the holiday playing games or having a movie marathon.

When I did not contribute to the bragging of gifts bought my friends asked and  I told them just what I have said above.

One of them actually said it was child abuse.  Another one of them said I was not a good Christian because we did not celebrate Christmas.

You would not beleave the rumors spreading now with this new shovel of information for them to feed on. 

If I had their money to spend on Christmas I would still send it to my sponsor child in Mali or give it to a local kid who needs to pay for collage books or a local cancer patient driving back and fourth to Spokane for treatment everyday.

Isn't it supposed to be all about Jesus anyway?

What kind of friends and supposed christen sisters are these people judging me so.

I know.  I know.  Turn the other cheek.  Love them like Jesus.  Love the sinner not the sin.  GRACE yep I
 know.

Someone just tell me how to find joy when every time I step out the door I am accused by one of the rumormongers.

I know give it all to God.  I am trying...  I guess I just need some prayer to let the light shine through again.

To top it off a friend cussed at me today and I just lost it and started balling.  Can not seem to stop.
She apologized with in minutes and I accepted her apology.  But I am still crying over all of this.

Yeah I guess I need some prayer.

On a more general note: This time of year is depressing for many and suicide rates are higher then normal this year.

Please remember you are loved and I am here for you.
Just post your pray requests and we can pray for each other.

WHEN - people started treating him as a Messiah and children in schools were taught to sing his praises, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he stood with his hands over his groin area for the playing of the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he surrounded himself in the White House with advisors who were pro-gun control, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage and wanting to curtail freedom of speech to silence the opposition, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he said he favors sex education in kindergarten, including homosexual indoctrination, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - his personal background was either scrubbed or hidden and nothing could be found about him, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - the place of his birth was called into question, and he refused to produce a birth certificate, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he had an association in Chicago with Tony Rezco - a man of questionable character and who is now in prison and had helped Obama to a sweet deal on the purchase of his home - people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - it became known that George Soros, a multi-billionaire Marxist, spent a ton of money to get him elected, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he started appointing White House Czars that were radicals, revolutionaries, and even avowed Marxist /Communists, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he stood before the Nation and told us that his intentions were to "fundamentally transform this Nation" into something else, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - it became known that he had trained ACORN workers in Chicago and served as an attorney for ACORN, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed cabinet members and several advisors who were tax cheats and socialists, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed a Science Czar, John Holdren, who believes in forced abortions, mass sterilizations and seizing babies from teen mothers, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed Cass Sunstein as Regulatory Czar who believes in "Explicit Consent," harvesting human organs without family consent and allowing animals to be represented in court, while banning all hunting, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed Kevin Jennings, a homosexual and organizer of a group called Gay, Lesbian, Straight, Education Network as Safe School Czar and it became known that he had a history of bad advice to teenagers, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed Mark Lloyd as Diversity Czar who believes in curtailing free speech, taking from one and giving to another to spread the wealth, who supports Hugo Chavez, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - Valerie Jarrett, an avowed Socialist, was selected as Obama's Senior White House Advisor, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - Anita Dunn, White House Communications Director, said Mao Tse Tung was her favorite philosopher and the person she turned to most for inspiration, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed Carol Browner, a well known socialist as Global Warming Czar working on Cap and Trade as the nation's largest tax, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he appointed Van Jones, an ex-con and avowed Communist as Green Energy Czar, who since had to resign when this was made known, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - Tom Daschle, Obama's pick for Health and Human Services Secretary could not be confirmed because he was a tax cheat, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - as President of the United States, he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he traveled around the world criticizing America and never once talking of her greatness, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - his actions concerning the Middle East seemed to support the Palestinians over Israel, our long time ally, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he took American tax dollars to resettle thousands of Palestinians from Gaza to the United States, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he upset the Europeans by removing plans for a missile defense system against the Russians, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he played politics in Afghanistan by not sending troops early-on when the Field Commanders said they were necessary to win, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he started spending us into a debt that was so big we could not pay it off, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he took a huge spending bill under the guise of stimulus and used it to pay off organizations, unions, and individuals that got him elected, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he took over insurance companies, car companies, banks, etc., people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he took away student loans from the banks and put it through the government, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he designed plans to take over the health care system and put it under government control, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he claimed he was a Christian during the election and tapes were later made public that showed Obama speaking to a Muslim group and 'stating' that he was raised a Muslim, was educated as a Muslim, and is still a Muslim, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he set into motion a plan to take over the control of all energy in the United States through Cap and Trade, people said it didn't matter.

WHEN - he finally completed his transformation of America into a Socialist State, people woke up--- but it was too late. Add these up one by one and you get a phenomenal score that points to the fact that Barrack Hussein Obama is determined to turn America into a Marxist-Socialist society.All of the items in the preceding paragraphs have been put into place. All can be documented very easily. Before you disavow this do an Internet search. The last paragraph alone is not yet cast in stone. You and I will write that paragraph.
Will it read as above or will it be a more happy ending for most of America?

Don't just belittle the opposition. Search for the truth. We all need to pull together or watch the demise of a free democratic society. Pray for Americans to seek the truth and take action for it will keep us FREE. Our biggest enemy is not China, Russia, North Korea or Iran. Our biggest enemy is a contingent of politicians in Washington, DC . The government will not help, so we need to do it ourselves.

Question....will you  pass this on to others who don't know about Obama's actions and plans for the USA, so that they may know how to vote in November, 2012 and the ensuing years?

It's your decision. I believe it does matter. How about you?

Tea Party Patriots leader arrested for checking in for flight while carrying a gun

A major leader in the Tea Party movement was arrested at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Thursday after he tried to check in for a flight while carrying a gun.

Prosecutors charged Mark Meckler, the co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, with felony weapons possession after he told a Delta ticket agent early Thursday morning that he had a weapon in his luggage.

Meckler was carrying an unloaded Glock pistol and numerous rounds of ammunition in a locked gun box, according to multiple reports.

Meckler’s attorney, Brian Stapleton, said Meckler had a concealed-carry permit for the gun issued by California, and that Meckler was in temporary transit through New York.

But the California permit wasn’t valid in New York.

“He legally declared his possession of the firearm in his checked baggage at the ticket counter as required by law and in a manner approved by TSA and the airline, yet was arrested by port authority for said possession,” Stapleton said in a statement.

Under New York law, Meckler could face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of the charge.

What I am about to tell you is something you've probably never heard or will ever read in history books.

I believe that I am an eyewitness to history. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide - 98% of the vote. I've never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.

In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates. Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn't want to work; there simply weren't any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people - about 30 daily.

The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna , Linz , and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.

We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany , where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We had been told that they didn't have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group – Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria . We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.

We were overjoyed, and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed. After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.

Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn't support his family. Many women in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been required to give up for marriage.

Hitler Targets Education - Eliminates Religious Instruction for Children:
Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler's picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn't pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang "Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles," and had physical education.

Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.

My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn't do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun - no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn't exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.

Equal Rights Hits Home:
In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn't work, you didn't get a ration card, and if you didn't have a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn't have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.

Soon after this, the draft was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.

Hitler Restructured the Family Through Daycare:
When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.

Health Care and Small Business Suffer Under Government Controls:
Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna . After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.

As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80% of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.

We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn't meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.

We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.

"Mercy Killing" Redefined:
In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps . The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work. I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.

As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.

The Final Steps - Gun Laws:

Next came gun registration... People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.

No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.

Totalitarianism didn't come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria ... Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.

After World War II, Russian troops occupied Austria. Women were raped, preteen to elderly. The press never wrote about this either. When the Soviets left in 1955, they took everything that they could, dismantling whole factories in the process. They sawed down whole orchards of fruit, and what they couldn't destroy, they burned. We called it The Burned Earth. Most of the population barricaded themselves in their houses. Women hid in their cellars for 6 weeks as the troops mobilized. Those who couldn't, paid the price. There is a monument in Vienna today, dedicated to those women who were massacred by the Russians.

This is an eyewitness account. It's true...those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of unbelievable freedom and opportunity.

Ashley Billasano did not show up for school at Rosenberg’s BF Terry High School Tuesday morning.
Instead, she took to her Twitter page, saying there was so much more she wanted to do.
“It’s obvious she needed somebody to talk to and that’s what I believe those tweets were,” said Chief Craig Brady with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department. “She was trying to communicate and trying to get people to talk to her.”
In those 144 tweets posted over the course of six hours, Billasano claimed she was molested and forced into prostitution.
She talked about how she dealt with the pain the first time.
“I went to the bathroom and locked the door”
“I took apart a razor. I did what I had to do to forget. I swear after that night I was never the same”
She talked about confiding with a boyfriend and telling her secret.
“I remember telling my closest teacher and CPS and the police detectives,” she said. “I remember having to tell them everything.”

Not sure what to say or do other then my friend Mary's daughter just wrote a story on human trafficking and posted it on her blog.  See it here.
It will open your eyes to a part of our world you do not want to think exists.  But it is right next door or down the street from you now.

I am not going to say a bunch of words to empower or get you moved.
I am just going to post some story's of other peoples work.

Now I am going to ask for prayer.
For us all but also for the ones suffering this right now.

One mans stupid is another woman's smart.

People call me stupid for collecting grass clippings and fallen leaves and bunny poo from other peoples yards.  But my garden beds are the best producers in the whole county.

I was recently pulled over and when the officer came to the window he asked for my license and registration. 
I was smart and also handed him my concealed weapons permit.    

He asked me why I would be stupid enough to carry a gun. 

I responded a gun?  Who said A GUN?   

He asked  Mary, how many guns do you have on you?  

I responded...a 22 in my purse a 45 in the console and a shotgun in the trunk. 
I also have a knife, a tazer and pepper spray all within reach. 
To top that off I was just at hardware store and have a case of wasp spray in the car and that stuff shoots more accurately then the pepper spray and will cause anyone to die if not treated with in hours. 

He said what are you scared of and I remembered that old joke of the granny in the same situation.....

I smiled thinking of it and looked him straight in the crotch since he had backed up and had his hand on his gun... and with a tone of voice that would of made Momma back hand me said

Not a DARN thing!  Why do you ask?

Again there is no reason for me to put in my two cents here.
People better schooled and closer to the action are speaking out and doing it very well.
That of course does not mean I do not want to tell you what I think.
I just think these people in these links can tell you what is going on as well as they told me.

So PLEASE take the time to read these links.
Then ask your Sheriff some hard questions concerning these issues.
During the last elections I did and so did my friend Mary up in Pend Oreille County Washington.
She asked the questions of 3 of the four candidates running in the primary.  Only two of them bothered to answer her and both in public with voters listening.

She has been told by neighbors that because she asked those hard questions and they heard the answers they also changed their votes.  One lady to the point of going down and getting a new ballot and re voting.

Just like Debora in the Bible someone has to call the country back to the right path.
I say Lord let it start with me and people like me.

In this climate it is utterly unheard of to have any official stand against the federal government. Typically, they stand with them – their hand out for more federal grants – no matter how much the federal government violates the U.S. Constitution and infringes on the public. Thankfully there are those few who take their oaths of office and to the Constitution, with sincerity, and instead they choose to fight for the people; fight for what is true and just.

8 Sheriffs Stand Up for the Constitution

This great story was covered in the Orange County Register on October 28, 2011 Rural rebellion brewing : Livelihoods in far-north California are under attack from federal regulators and environmentalists.

Sacramento is Government Central, a land of overly pensioned bureaucrats and restaurant discounts for state workers.

In the North State, one finds a small but hard-edged rural populace that views state and federal officials as the main obstacles to their quality of life.

Their latest battle is to stop destruction of four hydroelectric dams along the Klamath River – an action driven by environmentalists and the Obama administration. Most locals say the dam-busting will undermine their property rights and ruin the local farming and ranch economy, which is all that’s left since environmental regulators destroyed the logging and mining industries.

Groups in northern California and southern Oregon invited their County Sheriffs to informational meetings and, true Americans all, the battle is on!

Christmas 2011--Birth of a New Tradition!

This is from a mom I know.

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. 

This year will be different. This year Americans should give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift-giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands.  Yes there is!  It's time to think outside the box, people.  Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?

Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut.  How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon, or barber?
Gym or yoga club membership?  It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.
Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed?  Small, American-owned detail shops, and car washes, would love to sell you a gift certificate, or a book of gift certificates.
Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plonking down the Benjamins on a Chinese made flat-screen?  Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.
There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates.  And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half-dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint.  Remember, folks this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.
How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?
Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom?  Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day. Or even a local masseuse!
My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.
OK, you were looking for something more personal.  Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves.  They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes. Many are available, reasonably, at your nearest State Park.
Plan your holiday outings at local, owner-operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip.  And, how about going out to see a play, or ballet ,at your hometown theater?
Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand foreign-made lights for the house?  When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community.  If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy, or delivery person, and babysitter a nice BIG tip.
You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets and seeing our hard-earned wages go outside the country.   Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities ....and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.  Remember a local charity!
THIS is the new American Christmas tradition. Enjoy family get-togethers, church services, caroling, as in past Christmases ....but put more emphasis on the REASON FOR THE SEASON .....and less on material gifts.

The Chairman of Progressive Insurance, Peter Lewis, is one of the largest financial benefactors of left wing America. 

He is a major donor to Obama, numerous liberal candidates, the DNC, Media Matters and the Center for American Progress.
Over the past decade, Lewis has given $25 million to the ACLU which is the leading opponent of the Patriot Act and every War on Terror policy. 

The ACLU says Lewis was responsible for their efforts to "stop the Bush Administration from trampling on civil liberties."
In 2008 he gave $5.5 million which was matched by a similar contribution from George Soros to a political action committee promoting the Obama campaign. 

He gave $2.5 million to Moveon.org in 2004, and paid for their anti-Bush TV ad which ran during the Super Bowl. 

Lewis is on the Forbes list of the 400 wealthiest Americans, and his net worth is in excess of $1 billion. 

He collects paintings of the late communist dictator Mao Tse-tung. 

Bill O'Reilly says Lewis is "working feverishly to ensure that the progressive battalions are supplied with plenty of resources and firepower to pursue their radical domestic agenda." 

According to the Wall Street Journal, "The progressive left has spent the better part of a decade building an archipelago of tightly linked third-party groups: MoveOn.org, Media Matters, the Center for American Progress, their spinoffs and dozens of others. 

"Bankrolled in large part by billionaires like George Soros and Peter Lewis, and along with more traditional institutions like organized labor and the environmental lobby, these organizations are effectively a shadow party that operates outside the orbit of the Democratic Party."

"WHY THE AMERICAN FLAG IS FOLDED 13 TIMES"

Have you ever wondered why the Flag of the United States of America is folded 13 times when it is lowered or when it is folded and handed to the next of kin at the burial of a veteran?

Here is the meaning of each of those folds and what it means: 

The first fold of our Flag is a symbol of life. 

The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life. 

The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world. 

The fourth fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance. 

The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in dealing with other countries may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong." 

The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 

The seventh fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our Republic. 

The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day. 

The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood; for it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded. 

The tenth fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since they were first born. 

The eleventh fold, in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 

The twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. 

The thirteenth fold: When the Flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our Nation's motto, 

"In God We Trust." 

After the Flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, 

 

preserving for us the rights, 

privileges, 

and freedoms we enjoy today. 

The next time you see a Flag ceremony honoring someone that has served our country, either in the Armed Forces or in our civilian services such as the Police Force or Fire Department, keep in mind all the important reasons behind each and every movement. 

They have paid the ultimate sacrifice for all of us by honoring our Flag and our Country.
