Mayflower Compact “As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

by Dan and Carrie Tarabeck
In addition to Veterans Day, another historical “highlight”marked on this day is the signing of the Mayflower Compact on November 11,
1620.
In spite of the hardships the Pilgrims experienced, their little government lasted and became a model for the entire nation and is referred to as the foundation of the U.S. Constitution written more than 150 years later. Acknowledging that their purpose was to glorify God, the Pilgrims covenanted together to enact the laws “for
the general good of the colony” and promised to abide by them.

This post is inspired by our recent home school studies and we were reminded of how the Pilgrims had a clear vision and staked their very lives on following it. It is equally important for us today to have a clear vision of God’s purposes for ourselves and our families. “As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
